Stranger Things 5 Runtimes are Officially Revealed by Duffer Brothers

Stranger Things Season 5 Complete Guide: Release Dates, Episode Titles, Leaks & Theories

The wait is finally over! After weeks of speculation and viral rumors, the official runtimes for the first four episodes of Stranger Things Season 5 have been confirmed.

In recent weeks, multiple leaks about the episode lengths of the final season have spread across social media. One post even claimed that every episode would run for more than an hour, while another report from Puck News suggested runtimes ranging between 90 and 120 minutes. It turns out those reports weren’t accurate.

Co-creator Ross Duffer, who developed the series alongside Matt Duffer, officially revealed the real runtimes and while most episodes stay close to the one-hour mark, the finale is absolutely massive.

Here’s the complete breakdown.

  • Episode 1 – The Crawl: 1 hour 8 minutes
  • Episode 2 – The Vanishing Of: 54 minutes
  • Episode 3 – The Turnbow Trap: 1 hour 6 minutes
  • Episode 4 – Sorcerer: 1 hour 23 minutes
  • Episode 5 – Shock Jock: 1 hour 8 minutes
  • Episode 6 – Escape From Camazotz: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Episode 7 – The Bridge: 1 hour 6 minutes
  • Episode 8 – The Rightside Up: 2 hours 8 minutes

While most episodes follow the show’s typical 55–80 minute structure, the series finale stands out in a huge way. At 2 hours and 8 minutes, “The Rightside Up” is essentially a full-length film and one of the longest episodes in the entire series.

Some fans expected every episode to be extra-long after Season 4’s near-movie format. Almost all episodes that season ran over 70 minutes, which raised expectations for the final chapter. Season 5 takes a slightly different approach.

Instead of making every episode huge, the season balances tighter storytelling with a blockbuster ending. Shorter episodes like Episode 2 (54 minutes) keep the pacing sharp, while longer entries like Episodes 4 and 8 deliver the big, cinematic moments.

Some fans may find these runtimes slightly disappointing, especially after rumors suggested that feature-length episodes would be included. For comparison, all but one episode of Season 4 were over 70 minutes long, with the finale running a massive 2 hours and 22 minutes.

Interestingly, this aligns with what Finn Wolfhard said earlier this year that some episodes in Season 5 would run under an hour.

Netflix will release the fifth and final season in three parts. The first four episodes premiere on November 26, over Thanksgiving weekend, with “Sorcerer” serving as the mid-season finale. The next three episodes drop on Christmas Day. The series finale, titled “The Rightside Up,” will arrive on New Year’s Eve.

Spreading the season across the holidays keeps anticipation high and gives each batch of episodes time to breathe especially with the feature-length finale closing out the story.
