How to Change Your Netflix Region
August 24, 2025
Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) are officially returning to wrap up their sweet love story. But this time they will feature in a film instead of a series.
Since its debut, Heartstopper has been one of Netflix’s most loved series. With its heartwarming story, LGBTQ+ representation, and incredible chemistry between the leads, the show became a global sensation. The first three seasons averaged an impressive 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, cementing its place as one of the most praised Netflix Originals to date.
Now, fans are preparing to say goodbye with a final Heartstopper movie. The announcement came on April 22, 2025, exactly three years after Season 1 first premiered.
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming film.
Netflix has not announced an official release date yet. However, reports suggest the movie is expected to premiere in the first half of 2026.
The film wrapped up production at the end of July 2025. Joe Locke and creator Alice Oseman made the announcement by posting a farewell message on Instagram.

The movie is now in post-production, which means editing, sound, and finishing touches are underway. If everything goes smoothly, we’ll likely get teasers and trailers sometime in late 2025 or early 2026.
Netflix has not confirmed an official title yet. However, sharp-eyed fans noticed the film’s clapboard hinted at the possible title: “Heartstopper Forever.” While this hasn’t been officially verified, it certainly feels like a fitting name for the finale.
Euros Lyn directed the first two seasons while Andy Newbery helmed season 3. For the movie, Netflix brought in Wash Westmoreland, best known for his acclaimed film “Still Alice”. Stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke also serve as executive producers alongside Alice Oseman, Euros Lyn, Patrick Walters, Iain Canning, and Emile Sherman.
The final chapter was written by Alice Oseman and will be based on the sixth and final installment in the graphic novel series, as well as the beloved novel Nick and Charlie.
In the movie, Nick and Charlie are stronger than ever, but life is pulling them in new directions. Nick prepares to leave for university, while Charlie finds new independence at school. This shift forces them to navigate the challenges of a long-distance relationship while figuring out how to hold on to each other.
Meanwhile, their friends also face their own journeys of love, heartbreak, and growing up, capturing the bittersweet experience of moving forward in life while cherishing the past.
The Season 3 finale set the stage perfectly for the movie. Nick and Charlie reunited at a concert where Charlie performed as a drummer after Nick returned from visiting universities with friends.
Throughout the season, Charlie’s struggle with OCD and an eating disorder was addressed with sensitivity while supported by Nick. Still, Nick also spent time focusing on himself and his own future.
As college approaches, the season hints at both the hope and uncertainty of Nick and Charlie’s relationship. It raises the ultimate question: Can their love survive the test of distance and change?
The Heartstopper movie is shaping up to be a heartfelt and emotional conclusion to one of Netflix’s most cherished series. Fans can expect laughter, tears, and a goodbye worthy of Nick and Charlie’s love story.
In other news, Netflix has officially revealed the release date for its upcoming Korean thriller Good News, which is set to premiere on October 17, 2025
